Dan is my youngest uncle. Being only two years older than I am, Dan is more like
a brother to me than an uncle. Dan is the youngest of six (five still living) of
my mother's brothers. My mother is the second born child, of ten, and is the
only one of four girls to survive to adulthood.
My brother Ron, who is a year younger than I am, and I used to spend a lot of
time with Dan and his brother Don, who is a year older than Dan. When it came
time to take a partner for games and such, Dan and I would make up one teamed
while my brother and Uncle Don would make up the opposing team.
Dan and I are not as close as we once were; somewhere around our mid-twenties,
we drifted in different directions. I guess this is normal but sometimes I miss
those old days when we had a lot of fun together.
